Operations & workflow consulting for CPA firms · 25–200 people

Find where your CPA firm’s capacity actually goes.

It’s usually not your people. It’s the handoffs between them: a return parked in partner review, a client document nobody chased, a close that needs data from three systems. In three weeks, outside busy season, we map how work really moves through your firm and show you what to fix first.

No pitch deck. We’ll ask about your firm and tell you honestly whether a diagnostic makes sense.

  • Vendor-neutral
  • No access to client tax data needed

A-1Sound familiar?

A-2The real problem

It’s rarely the people. It’s the handoffs between them.

Most firms attack capacity one lever at a time: hire more staff, buy another tool, run another training. Each one helps a little and none of them sticks, because the work breaks where people, process and technology meet.

Where they meet

Where the three meet is where work waits.

A missing document, an unclear review threshold, a status nobody updated. The diagnostic finds these points and ranks them by how much capacity they free.

B-2How it works

Three weeks, scheduled around your season

Light on your partners’ time, invisible to your clients, and never on top of a deadline.

  1. Week 0

    A 20-minute call

You tell us what’s slowing the firm down. We tell you honestly whether a diagnostic is the right next step, or whether something simpler will do.

  2. Weeks 1–3

    Three weeks with your team

Short interviews with partners, managers and staff, kept anonymous and never reported for groups smaller than three. We follow a few real jobs end to end through your systems, without touching client tax data.

  3. End of week 3

    A decision, not a report

We walk your partners through the map and the memo. You decide what to define, what to train and what to implement, with us or on your own.

When to run it

  • Busy season · to 4/15
  • Extensions · 9/15 & 10/15
  • Diagnostic window

Diagnostics run between April 15 and December, around the extension deadlines.

C-1Why ID for Business

Built for how CPA firms actually work

Vendor-neutral

We don’t resell software, so we can tell you to keep what you already pay for. When a new tool is the answer, we help you choose it on your terms.

We build the connections

Most advisors stop at the recommendation. We can also build the integrations between your tax, practice management and document systems, so data stops being re-keyed by hand.

Planned around your season

Diagnostics run between April 15 and December. Interviews are scheduled around extension deadlines, never on top of them.

Confidential by design

Staff interviews are anonymous. We never need access to client returns or taxpayer data, so your §7216 process and your WISP stay as they are.

C-2Who you’ll work with

A systems person who works alongside your partners

For twenty years I’ve worked on the same problem from different seats: work and data getting stuck between teams.

I’ve been a developer, a tech lead, a project lead at Mercado Libre, a sales engineer and, most recently, a professional services engineer for companies around the world. Different industries, same expensive pattern: the work itself was fine, the handoffs weren’t.

CPA firms live that problem at its sharpest. Deadlines don’t move, the people are experts, and the systems rarely talk to each other. I’m not a CPA, and I won’t pretend to be. I work alongside your partners on the part of the firm that rarely gets anyone’s full attention: how the work actually moves.

C-3Fit

Is this right for your firm?

It’s for you if

  • You’re a CPA or accounting firm of roughly 25 to 200 people.
  • Partners feel the capacity squeeze every season.
  • You’ve grown, merged or added offices, and workflows didn’t keep up.
  • You’ve invested in technology and want it to finally pay off.
  • You’d rather fix how work moves than only hire more people.

It’s not for you if

  • You’re looking for a software reseller or a single-vendor implementation.
  • You need tax, audit or legal advice. We’re not a CPA firm.
  • You want a long report that will sit in a drawer.
  • You want to change workflows in the middle of busy season.

D-1What the data says

What the 2026 numbers say about firm capacity

Hiring is still hard. But across the profession, a bigger drag on capacity is work that moves badly between people and systems.

D-2FAQ

Questions partners ask before the first call

Do you sell or resell software?

No. We’re vendor-neutral and don’t resell licenses. When technology is part of the answer, we help you choose it and, if you want, build the integrations between your systems.

Will this get in the way of busy season?

No. Diagnostics run between April 15 and December, and interviews are scheduled around the September 15 and October 15 extension deadlines.

Do you need access to client tax data?

No. We look at how work moves through the firm, not at client returns. We never need taxpayer information, so your §7216 consent process and your WISP stay as they are.

How long does it take, and how much of our time?

About three weeks from kickoff to the final walkthrough. Partners join a kickoff, one short interview each and the final session. Managers and staff join short interviews scheduled around client work.

What size firms do you work with?

CPA and accounting firms of roughly 25 to 200 people, single-office or multi-office, including firms that have recently merged or are PE-backed.

Are you CPAs?

No. We’re operations and technology specialists who work alongside your partners. We don’t provide tax, audit or legal advice.

Is the work remote?

Yes, by default. Interviews and working sessions run over Zoom or Microsoft Teams, during US business hours. We’re based in Montevideo, Uruguay, one to two hours ahead of New York.

What happens after the diagnostic?

You keep the map, the memo and the plan. You can run the plan with your own team or ask us to help define processes, train teams or build integrations. There’s no obligation either way.

How much does it cost?

The diagnostic is a fixed fee, quoted before we start and based on your firm’s size and number of offices. We’ll talk numbers on the first call.

Do you work with offshore or outsourced teams?

Yes. Handoffs to offshore and outsourced teams are often where work waits, and we map them like any other team in the firm.
